Charlie Mae Whitmore, born on October 8, 1933, was the cherished first child of William Charlie and Jessie Mae Whitmore. She received her education at Mt. Zion School and JJ Rhodes High School, both located in Daingerfield.
A devoted lifelong member of Mt. Zion CME Church, Charlie Mae dedicated many years to serving as the president of the Stewardess and actively participated in the church choir, always ready to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed.
On May 25, 1951, she married Zembra Everett, and together they enjoyed a loving marriage that spanned 74 years, during which they welcomed five children into their family.Throughout her life, Charlie Mae was primarily a homemaker but also held various positions, including working at Malouf Sewing Factory, Pilgrim Pride, and in housekeeping roles.
She embodied the spirit of the commandment "Love Thy Neighbor" (Matthew 22:37-39) by regularly visiting and assisting the sick and shut-ins within her community, a passion she held dear. Additionally, she found joy in cooking and took great pride in her culinary skills.
Charlie Mae was preceded in death by her parents, William Charlie and Jessie Mae Whitmore; three sisters; ten brothers; two sons, Charlie Varice and Warren Everett; and one grandson, Christopher Everett.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Zembra Everett; three of her children, Zembra Jr., Thomas (Nelda), and Jeffie (Henry); her brother, Clarence; her sister, Virginia Nobles; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, along with sisters-in-law Tommie (Arthur) and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
