Dorothy Harmon Obituary

Dorothy Harmon, lovingly known to many as Doris, was called home to rest on November 30, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born on May 29, 1944, in Henderson County, Texas.

Dorothy was a proud East Texas woman whose life was grounded in faith, family, and community. She was a longtime member of the Church of God in Christ.

A hard worker all her life, Dorothy owned and operated Dorothy’s Cleaning Services, serving homes in the area for many years. She took great pride in her work and was known for her dedication and dependability. Many of her clients remained with her for decades, trusting her not only for her work but for her character. Even into her later years, Dorothy continued working, a reflection of her strength and determination.

Dorothy had a deep love for her town of Coffee City and gave back in meaningful ways. She served on the city council and stayed involved in local affairs, always wanting what was best for her community. She was well respected, well loved, and known as someone who truly cared about her neighbors.

Family was the center of Dorothy’s heart. She cherished bringing loved ones together and especially enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and holidays. Thanksgiving was one of her greatest joys, and she was happiest when she could prepare the meal herself. She shared a special bond with her grandson and found great happiness in spending time with him, loving on him, and taking joy in watching him grow.

Dorothy was a woman of strong will and quiet determination, yet beneath that strength was a tender and generous heart. She cared deeply for others, always concerned that people were cared for, fed, and helped when they were in need. She was generous, kind, and always ready to lend a hand.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorthea Brooks; her parents, Buster Harmon and Severa Harmon; her brothers Wallace Harmon and Rudolph Harmon; and her sister Patricia Ann Harmon.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Tamera Harmon-Walker; her son-in-law, Mark Walker; her beloved grandson, Liam Walker; her brothers Verge Harmon of Lancaster, Texas, Burle Harmon of Texarkana, Texas, William Harmon of Coffee City, Texas; her sister Christine Harmon of Coffee City, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
