Emvery Knox Obituary

Emvery Denard Knox came into the world on November 20th, 1979, in Naples, TX, to the parentage of Ricky Turner and Sharon Knox. As the eldest of five siblings, he naturally took on the role of nurturer and protector, loving and caring for his brothers and sisters as if they were his own children. This sense of responsibility stayed with him throughout his life.

At the age of 14, Emvery earned the nickname E40 from his best friend Antonio “Tooley” Parker, eventually shortened to 40. When he was 15, he moved to McAlester, Oklahoma, where he attended McAlester High School and met his soulmate, Elizabeth Anderson. They knew even at a young age that they would build a family together. Their first child, Aja Deniece Knox, was born in 1997, followed by two more daughters, Aza Dashay Knox in December 2000, and Aya Denne Knox in September 2002.  A year later he popped the question, and they were married February 12th, 2004. The family then moved to Portland, Oregon, where they were welcomed by Elizabeth's family. Emvery later went on to have a son, Emvery Denard Knox, Jr., and a daughter named Aurora Paige Knox.

Known for his goofy, hot-headed nature and contagious smile, 40 loved to dance, even with two left feet, and was a master on the BBQ grill. His love for cooking for his family was unmatched, though his dad may have disagreed.

Emvery “40," is preceded in death by his grandfather, Hoover Knox, and grandmothers, Mary Knox and Tessie Turner. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy that will live on through his parents, Ricky and Jacqueline of Dallas, TX, and Sharon Knox of Mt. Pleasant, TX, his siblings Keyatta, Tanezya, Ganesha, Brittini, and Ernest, his children Aja, Aza, Aya, EJ, and Roro, his grandchild Justin, and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
