Evelyn McCleveland Cofer, born on July 4, 1938, was the beloved daughter of David McCleveland and Mary Rose, both of whom have passed on. Growing up in the Bullard Texas Community, Evelyn was a devoted woman of faith, a lifelong member of Smith Temple COGIC where she found joy in praising and worshiping God. Known for her unconditional love for her family, Evelyn had a heart as pure as gold and made countless sacrifices for her loved ones. She dedicated many years of her life working at Rose Nursery and Girling Home Health agency. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, sewing quilts, baking homemade cakes, watching WWE wrestling, and tending to her gardens.
Evelyn was united in marriage with the love of her life, Willie James Cofer Sr., and has now been reunited with him. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Pinkston and Lottie Cofer, as well as three sons, Willie Cofer Jr., James Ray Cofer, and Donell Cofer.
Evelyn is survived by her cherished grandchildren, including those she raised, Travis Cofer and Lamisha (Larry) Toler, as well as other beloved children Ethel Edwards, Vera Cofer Crossgrove, Bobby Cofer, Marcus Cofer, her Baby Joe Anthony (Kelsey) Cofer and Son in Love James Pinkston. She also leaves behind 33 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, sisters Annie Faye McCleveland, Vera Pettigrew, Armia Davis, Dorothy Johnson, Latoya McCleveland, sisters-in-love Mary Alice McCleveland, Brenda McCleveland, Pamela Cofer, brother-in-love Richard Williams, godchildren, Eric Bell and Angela Adams, grandchildren she helped raised, Eldest Grandson Christopher McClevland, Teressa McClevland, Xavier Cofer, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family members.
