Jeffrey Glenn Boyd

Jeffrey Glenn Boyd (Jeff), was born on May 4, 1957 to Opell and Ida Jewel Boyd in Tyler, Texas.  He was the youngest of three children born to this union.

Jeff attended the public schools of T.J. Austin elementary, Dogan middle school, and graduated from John Tyler high school. Jeff had a personal relationship with the Lord and attended St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.

On December 16, 1978, Jeff was united in holy matrimony to Karren Lynette Boyd (his Shorty and love of his life). Through this union they were blessed with five children.

Jeff was an awesome Dad, he was awesome in the sense that he allowed his children to have a voice. He always gave his children the benefit of doubt. Jeff would often let his children know that it was his first time being a father like it was their first time being a daughter and son. Jeff enjoyed playing dominos while often throwing in some smack talking to his opponents, watching basketball and football games especially when the Cowboys were playing. Jeff worked as a bricklayer in his earlier years but was a free spirit who lived life on his terms. His love and joy will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him.

Jeff quietly departed this life Friday, February 16, 2024. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Karen Boyd, daughter Katrina Boyd and his sister Debra Lee Davis.

His beautiful and spirit filled life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Shimetha Joseph of Vallejo, CA, LaTosha Boyd of Tyler, TX, NaKisha Ferguson of San Francisco, CA, and Kevin Boyd of Tyler, Texas; his grandchildren Wayne Lucky III, Kelis Nelson, Eric Branner, Asa Muhammad, Aminah Muhammad, Ca’Lajah Boyd, Ja’Miyah Ferguson and Ahabri Allen; brother Larry (Red) Boyd; sons-in-law William Joseph Jr. and Jarvis Ferguson. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
