Jo Evelyn Woodson was born on October 10, 1953, in Daingerfield, Texas, to Lankston and Molisie Woodson.
She accepted Christ at a young age and joined Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church in Daingerfield, TX. Later in life, she became a member of Wesley Chapel C.M.E. Church in Greenville, Texas.
Jo Evelyn graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1972 and attended Jarvis Christian College for a year. She later moved to Dallas,TX where she resided until 2009. Jo Evelyn had a zest for life and cherished time spent with friends and family. She brought joy to any social or religious gathering and was grateful for all she achieved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; W.M. Woodson and L.W. Woodson, two sisters; Mildred Evans and Mary Everett, a son; Robbie Woodson and a daughter; Malissa Marie Woodson-Hall.
Jo Evelyn is survived by her three children; La'Tosha Royal of Longview, TX, Joe Nathan (Aysha) Woodson of Dallas, TX, and Chester (Roshunda) Woodson of Dallas, TX.
Jo Evelyn's grandchildren include Jada Hall, K.J. Hall Jr., Desmond (Shatanika) Heath, Dynasty Royal, La'Tosha Royal, Jonathan Woodson, Joe Nathan Jr., Mylan Nicholas Williams, Journie Nicole Dennis, Zariyah Noelle Dennis, and Jaylen Woodson. Her great-grandchildren are Journee Heath, Major Royal-Hopkins, and Massiah Royal-Hopkins. Jo Evelyn had three siblings; Clara Mitchell from Daingerfield, TX; Emma Reagor from Tulsa, Oklahoma and Faye Godbolt from Houston, Texas. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, as well as special friends Glenda Franklin, Ruby Jewel Williams and Wanda Gene Whiten.
