Johnny R. Thomas was born June 17, 1944, to the parentage of James Thomas and Katie B. Riley in Naples, Texas.
Johnny was a 1962 graduate of Carver High. He served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Lone Star Steel for 44 years as an electrician. He was a member of Norris Curry CME Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Thomas and Leroy Thomas; sister, Minnie Thomas and daughter, Shawna D. Whetstone.
He is survived by his wife, Dorris Thomas of Naples, Texas; son, Anthony Whetstone of Longview, Texas; daughters, Rolanda Whetstone of Longview, Texas, and Yarsheka Thomas of Naples, Texas; brother, Bobby Thomas of Texarkana, Texas; sisters, Virginia Byrd of Pittsburg, Texas, Sally Hill of Omaha, Texas, Betty Thomas Mitchell of Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Alice Evans of Longview, Texas; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren followed by a host of other relatives and friends.
