Kathrine Turner Obituary

Kathrine Turner was born on April   25, 1962, to Damon Taylor and Maurine Smith. She departed this world on January 31, 2026, earning her wings to watch over us from heaven.

Kathrine was a proud graduate of Daingerfield Independent School District, completing her studies in the class of 1980. She became a devoted member of Shady Grove Christian Church at a young age and remained faithful throughout her life. She was the loving mother of three wonderful children: Anthony Taylor, Karnisha Turner, and Ca’Nareon Taylor. In addition to her children, she was blessed with five beautiful grandchildren: Alexia Green, Joseph Taylor, Ja’Mari Rushing, Kayden Rushing, and Alena Taylor.

Kathrine had a heart of gold and loved to love, especially her nieces and nephews. She cherished family gatherings, eating and guzzling her Jell-O shots all the while talking plenty of trash as only she could. She also enjoyed dancing with her nephews, particularly Bubba Jr., who was her favorite partner, who brought her immense joy. Kat loved dining out and shopping whenever she could, often accompanied by her sister Liz, niece Tess, and her long-time friend and sister at heart, Modina Walker. Her niece Sham would join in on their escapades. They were affectionately dubbed the ‘Golden Girls’ because where one went, the others were sure to follow, whether they were having plenty of fun, laughing or arguing.

Kathrine dedicated several years of her life to the healthcare field, working for Advantage Home Health for 3 to 4 years, followed by five years at Jordan Home Health, and then 24 years at Windsor Place, now known as Capstone. She was an incredibly hard worker who seldom missed a day of work, only doing so when she was genuinely unwell, often returning on her days off to ensure her family was cared for.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her paternal grandmother, Lillie B. Taylor her grandparents, Jessie Smith and Alice Smith Mason, and three sisters: Amanda Perez, Annette Taylor, and Sally Everett. She also mourned the loss of two brothers, Thomas Evans Sr. and Travis Taylor.

Kathrine is survived by her three children and five grandchildren, as well as her two sisters, Marie Crowder of Tyler, Texas, and Elizabeth Taylor of Cason, Texas. Additionally, she leaves behind her dear friend Modina Walker of Daingerfield, Texas, along with close friends Pam, Hendrix, and Dasmine Minter, who was her cooking buddy. She is also survived by a special niece, Myesha Taylor, her long-time partner, Darrell Elliott, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
