Lewis Calvin Butler Jr., son of the late Lewis Calvin Butler Sr. and Nettie Mae Smith Butler, was born in Overton, Texas, where he attended school before the family moved to Tyler.
He graduated from Chapel Hill in 1969, attended welding school, and worked for Welding Refining and Southland Corporation before retiring from Sanderson Farms. His hobbies included drag racing and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by sisters Georgia Butler and Rhonda Butler Johnson and brother James Stanley Butler.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Butler (Karla) of Whitehouse, Texas, and Rod Butler of Dallas; grandchildren Shantavia (Jeremiah) Butler Sneed, Matthew Butler, Aerial Butler, Colin Butler, and Caden Butler; his nephew Cecil Ford Jr. known affectionately as “the 3rd son” and children Ceron Ford, Cecily Ford, and Cecelia Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
