In the vibrant city of Dallas, Texas, a little girl named Linda Kay Childress was born on February 13th in 1959, daughter of the late James Harrison and Jeraline Davis. She was raised by the loving Lessie and Rev. Johnny Bailey where she learned the importance of kindness and compassion from a young age. She attended public school in Lubbock, where her dreams blossomed like wildflowers. After completing Beauty College, she embarked on a journey in food service at Texas Tech, but her true calling was to care for others. For over 25 years, she dedicated her life to nurturing those in need, feeding their bodies and souls with her delicious meals and infectious laughter until she retired. Linda Kay was not just a name; she was a beacon of love, lighting up the lives of everyone she met.
As the years passed, she became a beloved member of Bishop and Pastor Reginald Thomas's church in Austin, Texas, where her tambourine was always at the ready. With every beat, she spread joy and faith, inspiring others to find their own rhythm in life. Linda’s spirit was infectious; her children, Tywain, Archie, and Nicole, watched in awe as she poured her love into every gathering, every meal, and every prayer.
Though Linda Kay Childress has now joined her beloved parents in the heavens, sisters; Jaqueline W, Marian B, Derwin D, Vickie J, Henrietta D, Phyllis H, Michelle H, Nichole, Barbara Bailey, Billy Bailey, her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren; Tyjahe C, Elijah C, Samatha C, Sametria C, Jeremiah C, Amariana A, Frederick A, Niko J, Nicholas P, and Jersey P., and a host of discs, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. In every beat of the tambourine, in every shared laugh, Linda’s spirit dances among them, reminding them to love fiercely and live fully.
