Mae Searcy Obituary

Mae Otis Searcy was born in Daingerfield, TX on April 1, 1944, to the late Otis Williams and Mae Dell Boyd who preceded her in death.

She attended J.J. Rhodes High School in Daingerfield, TX.  Later, on December 12, 1969, she married the love of her life, L.V. Searcy, and they spent many years raising a family, growing professionally, opening businesses and traveling with her family and friends to places such as New Mexico, Las Vegas, Nashville and California. She was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess.

Professionally, she worked in several administrative positions with employers such as the Naval Air Base (Dallas), Texas Instruments (TI), Red River Army Depot, and as an Entrepreneur/ Owner (Café/Lounge and Beauty Salon). Her final work position was with Lone Star Steel (i.e., USS Steel) and her career ended with her retirement in the early 90’s. She always had a flare for beautiful things and her favorite hobbies were interior decorating, shopping, dancing, gardening, fishing and fellowshipping with family and friends. She was a champion of the underdog, and she would often sacrifice and give family members, friends or even complete strangers her last. She believed in treating her brothers and sisters in Christ as good as she treated herself.

She leaves to cherish loving memories with her beloved husband of 55 years and life partner of 64 years, L.V. Searcy of Daingerfield, TX; Three (3) daughters; Mary Searcy Smith (Darryl) of
