Michael Brooks Obituary

Revelations 21:4(KJV)
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying,
neither shall there be any more pain:
for the former things are passed away.

Mike “Michael” Allen Brooks was born in Jacksonville, Texas, on November 13, 1964 to his mother, the late Evelyn “Ophelia” Grant-Rice, and father, Allen Dewitt Brooks.

Michael grew up in Carson, California under the care of his father Allen Brooks and mother Haletha Brooks. Under the tutelage of their mother, Heletha Brooks, Michael, his sister Tonda “Tonii”, and brother Bainiff “Ban”, became straight “A” students, and continued to excel throughout their education.

Michael met the woman who would become the love of his life, LaTyna Jackson, in high school. They married in 1996, and to this union they have two daughters, LaKala Brooks and Ormeana Brooks. Michael also has two children from previous relationships, Tamara Keara Brooks and Ashton Booker.

Michael relocated his family to Dallas, Texas and purchased a home in Red Oak, Texas where he resided with his family until his health intervened.

Michael rededicated his life to the Lord at Ardent Church (previously Empowering Word Christian Center) in 2000. He had a strong unwavering love for his wife, family, and friends. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, and an amazing brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. Michael loved life and was a friend to many. He was uplifting, and his spirit and personality were contagious. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Michael. He found delight and happiness in his daily activities, and in providing and caring for his family, and so many others. He was always motivating, inspiring, and encouraging others; changing the lives for many. Michael will forever be remembered by all as an energetic and loving family man with a big heart!

Michael was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn “Ophelia” Rice, one brother Roderick Glen Grant, one sister Sandra D. Booker, his grandparents, and several other family members.

Michael is survived by his parents, Allen and Haletha Brooks; his loving wife, LaTyna Brooks; three daughters, Tamara Keara Brooks, LaKala Brooks, and Ormeana Brooks, one son, Ashton Booker; eight grand children Moriya Banks, Elijah Banks, Lily Quintanilla, Azariah Brooks, Gabriel Williams, Lola Booker, Michael Luciano Booker, and Uriya Bryant; four sisters Joanna Grant, Balinda Anderson, Tonda “Tonii” Brooks, and Imogene Elder; one brother Bainiff Brooks; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Psalms 23:1-6

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
