Naioma Ruth Lafayette, better known as Naomi, was born in Morris County, Texas, March 18, 1934 to the late Ples and Mary Smith Godbolt.
She joined Shady Grove Christian Church at a young age and remained a faithful member until her health failed.
She began her education from Rosenwald, but went to graduate from J.J. Rose High in 1952. She was united in marriage to J.M. Lafayette on December 14, 1957, to this union there were 4 children.
She worked for Golden Feast Chicken House for 25 years, where she ultimately retired. Naomi was a God-fearing lady, who adored working in the kitchen of the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, son and siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories; a daughter Kathy Garrett of Cason, TX, a son Reginald Peters of Dallas, TX, a special niece Gloria Allen of Dallas, TX,a sister-in-law; Annie Lafayette, a special daughter; Michelle Jones of Longview, TX, 12 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nephews and nieces, a cousin Erma Rhymes, and one supportive man that she declared as her friend, Greg Frazier. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
