Obituary

Nettie Mae Walker was born in Gilmer, Texas, March, Fifth, Nineteen Thirty-Nine to the parentage of Luvenia Griffin and Doctor Palmer.

She attended Gilmer ISD Schools and graduated from Gilmer High School. She later moved to Dallas Texas where she married her husband of 48 years Vernon B. Walker.

Nettie earn her certificate of license to preach the gospel of ministry at Grace Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas under Reverend A.L. McCoo on February 21, 1982. Nettie then went on to further her education at D. Edwin Johnson Institute of Dallas, Texas where she was awarded the Certificate of Achievement, for having completed courses such as: Pastoral Ministries, New Testament (Part I), New Testament (Part II), and how to prepare and deliver a sermon. With all those achievements, it lead to the advanced certificate and special training from the Extension Department of Southern Baptist Seminaries on May 21, 1982. Nettie was awarded her Diploma of Pastoral Ministries in recognition of, the satisfactory completion of a program of study in the Seminary Extension College-Level Curriculums by the Seminary External Education Division on May 17, 1985.  Pastor Nettie Mae Walker then earned her credentials from, the State Missionary of the Church of the Living God C. W. F. F., which certified her to be duly appointed by the Chief Bishop, to become a missionary, teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, in the interest of the extension of the said church and for the upbuilding of humanity in the State of Texas of the United States of America as of August 8, 1993.  She later in life moved from Dallas to Gilmer in 1995 and became the Pastor of New Mountain Church in Gilmer, Tx., she stepped down when her husband became ill in 2002.

She was preceded by her husband; Vernon B. Walker, mother; Luvenia Griffin, father; Doctor Palmer, her brother; James Palmer and sister, Luddie Bell Grisby.

She leaves to cherish her memories, children; Sandra Kay Walker Daniels and Kenneth Earl Walker both of Gilmer, TX, Sheila Joyce Walker of Dallas, Texas, LaShondra ShaDine Daniels Davis (Antonio Lonzale Davis Sr.) of Rockwall, TX, LaDarius Ahkaylon Daniels of Gilmer, TX, one brother; Tommy Louis Palmer (Myrtle Gause), sisters; Trinette Latrina Washington of Balch Springs, TX and Margo Oliver of Allen, TX, grandchildren; Kennith Earl Deckard of Gilmer, TX, LaJoshua Ahqwan Daniels (Nicole Alyatim) of McKinney, Tx, great-grandchildren; Antonio Lonzale Davis Jr., Haesus Lonzale Davis, Makaiya Nevaeh Daniels, Isaiah Ahkeylon Blaize, Nia KaNae Walker, Keddrick Ahmad Walker Jr., Kyra Anisa and Kyre Anisha Walker, Montavier Deckard and Ahkierra Deckard.
