Christopher Manns was born on March 28, 1977, at
Overton Hospital in Texas to Marvel Robertson and Joe
Lee Manns II. He was the third of four brothers—Joe L.
Manns III, Timothy Lee Manns, and Keith Lynn Manns
—affectionately known as the “Manns boys.”
Raised in White Oak, TX, Christopher attended school
there and quickly stood out for his exceptional vocal
talent. Alongside his mother and brothers, he traveled
extensively, performing gospel music across the region.
Summers were spent with his grandmother, Lessie Dee
Anthony, and were devoted to singing at churches
throughout East Texas.
Chris was a vocal prodigy whose gift never went
unnoticed. His passion for music led him to join the
Longview Chapter of the Interdenominational Youth
Mass Choir under the leadership of Rev. Eddie
Templeton. There, he was given the opportunity to lead
a song that became a signature moment in his early
musical journey.
At the age of 16, he began learning to play the piano,
further developing his musical skills and deepening his
artistry. Chris moved to Lufkin, TX, to pursue music
more seriously, and later made his home in Houston,
TX, where he lived for the majority of his adult life.
Later in life, Chris was blessed to discover three
additional siblings: Melvin Joe, Nicole Caldwell, and
the youngest, affectionately known as Lil Tim. This
revelation expanded his family circle and brought him
great joy.
In recent years, Chris faced health challenges that
eventually brought him back to Longview to be closer
to family. It was there, surrounded by love, that he
peacefully transitioned on July 5, 2025.
Christopher Manns will be remembered for his powerful voice,
his deep love for music, and his unwavering connection to
family and faith. His legacy lives on in the songs he sang, the
lives he touched, and the love he shared.
