Richard peacefully entered eternal rest on July 1, 2025, in Pittsburg, TX. He was born on May 29, 1945, in Pittsburg, to
O.T. Rhymes and Genester Gardner Rhymes.
A proud graduate of Frederick Douglas High School in Pittsburg, Class of 1964, Richard began his career at Holman Manufacturing. He later dedicated over 50 years of service at Lone Star Steel.
Known as "Cowboy," Richard had a passion for working with animals. He relished training horses, rounding up cattle, shoeing horses, calf roping, attending rodeos, and trail riding. His unique bond with animals set him apart.
Richard was a devoted member of Shady Grove Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his loving and devoted wife, Earma, and two adoring daughters, Tony and Timmy Rhymes, all of Pittsburg, TX. He is also survived by three sisters: Doris Johnson, Juanita Dollison, and Virginia Harris, all from Texarkana, AR. Additionally, Richard is remembered by a multitude of nieces, nephews, trail riding friends, and loved ones. His close companions, Tommy King, Ben Houston, Frank Ashmore, Kent Koser, and his special godson, Marqucalous Cheatum, will carry his memory forward.
