Rita Alain Edmond was born on March 25, 1950, in Morris County, the daughter of the late Monzier and Trilla Lewis. She became a member of Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ at a young age and later joined Oak Grove Church of Christ, where she married Melvin Edmond and welcomed their son into the world.
Rita graduated from J.J. Rhoads High School and continued her education at Texarkana College, earning her degree as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (L.V.N.). She dedicated her career to caring for others, working in various hospitals and nursing homes.
Rita was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jimmie and Charlotte Walker, as well as her parents, her son Ashley Lewis, and her siblings: Wanda Austin, Tobie Byrd, Herman Searcy, Bernadette Lewis Wade, and Everlean Bolden.
She leaves to cherish her memories by two sons, Ronald Lewis of Cason, Texas, and Keith Lewis of Lone Star, Texas, along with four grandchildren: Brad, Ashley, Ryan, and Haley Lewis. Rita also leaves behind her siblings: Ginger Gilbert, Ouida Searcy, Mary (Candy) Tillman, Paula Searcy, Jamantha Smith (Sammie), Glenda Denmark of Daingerfield, Texas, Glenda Lewis Perry of Jefferson, Oliver Lewis of Omaha, Texas, Tawain Gilbert of Caddo Mills, and her god sisters, Margaret Evans and Denise Gilbert.
