Sally Ann Evans-Everett was born on April 22, 1952, to Tom Evans Jr. and Maurine Smith, at home in Dangerfield, Texas. She attended J. J. Rhodes High School in Dangerfield, Texas, until her 11th-grade year, when she dropped out to marry her love, Arthur Ray Everett (Ray-Boy), on January 3, 1970. To this union, three children were born: Letailure Everett-Hurndon (Tess), Roland M. Everett (Ray Ray), and Kimberly D. Everett (Kim).
She later joined Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ and was there for many years before moving to Oak Grove Church of Christ. She truly believed in God and instilled that belief in all her children and grandchildren. As the family cook, with her tasty greens, cakes, pies, and delicious banana pudding, she extended her love in the kitchen, working many jobs at nursing homes, N.T.C.C., other kitchen places, Pilgrim’s Pride kitchen, and her last job was working with Abundant Life. She also enjoyed making quilts and lots of clothes for her kids when they were younger, and she did it with love.
She welcomed her first grandchild, Markevion DeRay Hurndon (Manny), on September 23, 1994. A year later, she had her second grandchild, Keonna Shavelle Hurndon, and then her last grandchild, Jaci Janell Simmons, on January 13, 2004. She loved and cherished her children and grandchildren, as well as all those who came into her life. She loved to laugh and go on cruises with her sisters and friends. Marvin Gaye was one of her favorite singers, and she loved to “slow drag” to his music, as she put it.
She was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters: Annette Taylor and Amanda Taylor Perez, and two brothers: Travis Taylor and Thomas Evans.
She is survived by her loving husband, Arthur Ray Everett; her two daughters, Letailure Everett-Hurndon and Kimberly Everett; her son, Roland Everett; three sisters: Marie Ann Evans-Crowder, Kathrine Taylor-Turner, and Elizabeth Taylor, two brother in laws; Robert and Don Everett, and one sister in law, Flora James, one best friend, Jewel Williams; a childhood friend, Merl Sue Rivers; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
