Samuel Ross was born on August 19, 1951, in Tyler, Texas, to Nathaniel and Gwendolyn Ross.
He completed his early education at Carver Elementary School and A.T. Stewart Jr. High School, ultimately graduating from Emmett Scott H i g h S c h o o l , t h e “ L A S T ” g r a d u a t i n g c l a s s o f 1 9 7 0 .
Following high school, Sammy served in the Army from 1970 to 1973, earning an Honorable Discharge after sustaining injuries during his service.
Sammy was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Ross; his parents, Nathaniel and Gwendolyn Ross; his sisters, Janice Ross and Theresa Terrell, both from Tyler, TX; and his brothers, Dewayne Ross from Tyler, TX, and Jonathan Ross from Shreveport, LA.
He is survived by his brothers, Bobby Ross and Anthony Ross, both of Tyler, TX; his sisters, Jackie Steward and Lois Campbell of Tyler, TX, Margaret Jordan of Bellevue, NE, and Margaret Hampton of Dallas, TX.
Sammy leaves behind cherished memories with his sons, Phillip Ross of Tyler, TX, and Chris Ross of Flint, TX, as well as his daughters, Nikki, Zandra (Treace), and Chasity. He is also survived by a loving array of nieces, nephews, 14 grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
