Tamara Smith

Tamara Yvette Smith came into this world on October 4, 1976, as the daughter of Victor and Patricia Evans. She graduated from Daingerfield Independent School District in the Class of 1995 and found joy in her work at “A Service That Cares” in Desoto, Texas, where she dedicated herself to the well-being of others. Much like her father, Tammy had a gift for connecting with people and lighting up any room she walked into.

Tammy was preceded in death by her father Victor Evans, her maternal grandparents Melvin and Charlene Smith, and her paternal grandparents Victor Evans and Lola Mae Hayes. On Monday, July 22, 2024, Tamara answered the Lord’s call, leaving behind cherished memories for those she touched.

She is survived by her loving and devoted mother, Patricia Evans of Daingerfield, TX, her two daughters Porsha Tillis and Shuntay Mays, and her son JeQualan Johnson, all of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her three sisters Cassandra (Samondric) Harper, Whitney Williams, and Dimisha Slaughter, as well as her two brothers Derric and Vincent G. Williams, all from various locations in Texas. Tammy leaves behind five nieces, three nephews, her special aunts Melba Hickles and Patsy Rodgers, special uncles Bennie (Pig) Lee, Tony, Billy, and Steve Smith, a special cousin Latreese Murray, and close friends Kelly (Brian) Byerly, Satonya Norris, and Terry Scruggs. Additionally, Tammy leaves behind a large extended family of aunts, uncles, relatives, and close friends who will always hold her memory dear.
